We were exploring the beautiful world together and I felt so grateful to be where we were." The kids were happy and we were seeing giraffes and zebras for the very first time in the wild and my heart was so happy. We were on safari and it was sunset and it was just the four of us then. Jessica: "One place I think of all the time was in South Africa. We really try to give each other a good hour without interruptions." It's not only good for our health but its kind of our mental time and the only time we get alone every day. What's the one thing you can't do without? Inside Garrett's backpack The Bucket List Family Kids, whether they are on the road or at home will have breakdowns no matter where it is." Garrett: "You know, my mentality is if the kids are breaking down or having a fit or crying or if they get sick, my thought is I would rather them go through this while we're in a bungalow on an island rather than at home doing nothing. My daughter does some schoolwork and we do naps if we can." Even though we are in a different place every week, and in a different bed every week, it is the same schedule every day. Jessica: "We try to keep a schedule wherever we are and that is what keeps our sanity the most. How do you keep your sanity with so much travel, especially with small children? When they get on an airplane, they automatically turn right towards economy. I’m glad they are not spoiled when it comes to luxury travel as opposed to frugal travel. The world is accessible and friendly and is theirs to explore. Garrett: "I think in a good way the kids are spoiled in that they see the world is their oyster and they know that anything is possible. We are doing some stuff in Kenya with The Safari Collection and with Cox & Kings which is a luxury traveling camp in India." Jessica: "We do quite a bit of luxury travel. We will have the kids in a private school where their schedules are a lot more flexible."īoarding the flight in Guatemala The Bucket List familyĭo you get to experience any luxury in your travels? Are the kids spoiled by now? We are going to Greece in September, October we are going to China and Bhutan and December we are doing Indonesia. We already have one week planned each month for a trip. We have already enrolled both kids in school and soccer for the Fall. We will be sharing basically about our lives and what its like settling down in Hawaii and still continuing to travel but also having a home base. Garrett Gee: "This will be a new chapter for The Bucket List Family, we are not going to be traveling to a new place every week. It's really fun to have such a global online audience especially for the countries that we are featuring for the show." It's an online series which is great since our audience is 50% international and 25-35 year-old women, many of them married with young children. They came up with the idea of doing a show based on the house and our travels. Andy and Candace Meredith had a show on HGTV called “Old Home” where they restored old homes and we originally contacted them to pick their brains about remodeling. We have been renovating the house and we ended up partnering with Home Love Network. Jessica Gee: "We bought a house back in January, and it's an old house almost 100 years old on the big island of Hawaii. Tell me about your new television show Traveling Home. Over the course of eight weeks, The Bucket List Family will travel the world collecting inspiration for their 80-year-old beachfront Hawaiian bungalow. The interactive series premieres this week and will follow the family's journey to make their newly purchased house into a home, working alongside Home Love Network’s design experts, Andy and Candis Meredith (of HGTV’s Old Home Love) to create their dream home. The family now has three young children (Dorothy, Manilla, and Callihan) and a new online television series called Traveling Home.
